This is a New England Republican website but from time to time there are Democrats who stand out. Guy Glodis, the current Worcester County Sheriff is one.
He has been active in fundraising for veterans in his county and worked with the Army Reserve in regards to his deputies.
He is worth a look at in his run for State Auditor.
Incumbants outpace challengers for funding in Massachusetts Congressional races.
Yes and No. The primary for the challenger Republican candidates is not until September 14th. No one is throwing money at anyone, outside of the Cape Cod race, until that time.
The Cape race is taking on a life of its own and all the money being splashed is the result of the GOP infighting. Either way it is good for the race and the money spent is helping the local economy. Yes, someone figured out way back that when its time to throw the bums out it is usually because everyone in broke.
So before the media gets everyone all in an uproar that Scott Brown’s victory was a flash in the pan for the Bay State just remember the race has not really started yet.

This is my personal appeal to the Governor of Massachusetts Deval Patrick.
Now is the Democratic Party’s chance to make some good for all the damage John Kerry did to veterans in Massachusetts. Please take that almost $500,000 payment and give it to a group home for veterans. The Puerto Rican Veterans Association operates an excellant one in Springfield.
They could use the money.
James Mattis is being interviewed today by the Senate Armed Services Commitee to determine if he will be the replacement for General Petraeus. I have never met him but did derve in the Task Force Ripper the same time he did in 1991.
David Petraeus did not manage a Ketucky Fried Chicken, yet he was treated as if he did. When the Manager of KFC fires his employee he must finish that persons job himeself. In otherwords he must clean out the cooler at the end of the night. Generals are like priests, they are in a seperate guild than the rest of society. We create this so that they may, like clergy, be able to study and develop new doctrines.
Mattis is a great choice. I don’t like the political wrangling that has taken place with James Jones as National Security Advisor. Jones, a former Commandant of the Marine Corps, has set this up so Mattis has no way to look bad. Interservice rivalry is a thing of the past, yet we seem that we are going back into it.
Last but not least. We are 9 years into this war. Do not confuse advances in military and medical technology with good generalship. Petreaus showed that with the surge. It is time to start grabbing some of the younger brigadiers and colonels and advancing them to commands to include service chiefs.
Technology has helped us keep casualties low, do not let it create an elderly and stagnant enviornment in the Department of Defense. This was great in the National Guard because it acted as an unofficial private school. The Regular forces still need to be young and fit.

The National Guard is sending 1200 members to the United States-Mexico border on August 1st as an effort run by the Department of Homeland Security.
I assume that it will be Title 10, that is run by the Army, and not title 32, run by the Governors, but I am not sure. If it is Title 10 than we are placing the United States Army on the Border. This was way over due.
Will it stop illegal immigration? Not sure, but it will cut down on the drug violence that has been killing Americans and destroying property.
